Donate to Kamaji’s Campership Fund

Since 2013 Kat (Martin) and Jason Nelson have prioritized making camp accessible to families who want to make their camp dreams a reality for their daughters. “Directors’ Scholarships” have been provided to families who might not be able to afford Kamaji otherwise. To protect the sustainability of these scholarships and allow for more families and their campers to benefit, we are now launching Kamaji’s Campership Fund.

Kamaji’s Campership Fund provides tuition assistance to campers who might not otherwise be able to attend Kamaji. Kamaji’s Campership Fund relies on the generosity of individuals and families to make Camp Kamaji accessible to each child who dreams of spending a summer on the shores of Wolf Lake. Kamaji’s Campership Fund is funded by tax-deductible donations from individuals and families and is administered through the American Camp Association (ACA). We are deeply grateful for the support of our donors and thankful to have a way to assist in bringing even more campers into our camp community.

Giving

Kamaji’s Campership Fund is funded by donations from individuals and families who share our commitments to making Kamaji accessible to families regardless of financial ability.

Contributions to Kamaji’s Campership Fund are tax-deductible and 100% of all donations will be applied to providing a Kamaji experience for a deserving camper. Help us share the joys of Kamaji with more children:

Eligibility For A Kamaji Campership

As much as we would like to, we are not always able to provide financial assistance to all families who apply for a Campership. Camperships are awarded based on financial need and as such, we ask that all applicants do their best to truly assess their ability to contribute to camp tuition so we can use our resources to make camp available to the greatest number of families. If you have support from other family members or friends who are willing to contribute to your child’s tuition, please consider that when completing your application. Helpful guidelines:

  • Camperships are available for either 1st or 2nd session (if interested in 8 weeks, please contact Jason- jason@kamaji.com).
  • Campership awards are based on financial need; every family will be expected to contribute toward the tuition.
  • Once a Campership has been granted, we will commit to a similar award for the camper’s following summers if sufficient funding is available and the Community Conduct Contract is honored. A new application and financial documentation will be required each year to verify need.

How to Apply

To be considered for Kamaji’s Campership Fund, please complete the Financial Aid Application for Camp Kamaji. The deadline for Campership applications is February 1, 2026. Applications received after this date will be considered only if additional funding is available. As part of the application for Kamaji’s Campership Fund the following will need to be completed:

  • Email jason@kamaji.com to let Kat and Jason know you’re interested in tuition assistance and any unique circumstances that may not be reflected in the financial application.
  • Complete the FAST: Financial Application for Camp Kamaji (Note: Financial Assistance cannot be provided unless this form is completed and current tax statements uploaded).
