What Parents & Campers Say About Kamaji:

“At Kamaji, there is a focus on creating community. It’s just such a special place, because it’s giving these girls the opportunity to be who they are without any pretense. You don’t have the pressures of social media. You are there, who you are, without armor.”

– Tracy, parent, Evanston

“Kamaji campers have the unique opportunity to be who they are, and they are encouraged to push their boundaries in a safe space.”

– Cassidy, parent, Chicago

Because of camp I feel much more confident. If I can live with complete strangers, drop a ski, help care for 12-year-olds and do other camp-related activities, I can take on other independent challenges that I will face in the future.

– 15 years old; 5th summer; Glencoe, IL

My counselor was kind and always there to listen to her campers. She gave good hugs and made sure we all felt happy.

– 11 years old; 2nd summer; San Francisco, CA

I found my happy place

– 12 years old; 1st summer; Lexington, KY

What makes Kamaji Special?

A community just for girls

Girls feel free to be themselves, try new things, and connect without the pressures and noise from home and school.

We keep cabin sizes small, so each camper feels seen, supported and encouraged. Kat is “camp mom” and a part of the day-to-day of camp with her campers.

Supporting Girls as they Grow: Parent and School Conversations

For over 20 years, I’ve spent my summers working closely with girls as they navigate friendships, independence, confidence, and identity—particularly during the critical late elementary and middle school years.

These experiences offer a unique window into how girls grow when they are given space to be independent, form authentic relationships, and build resilience outside of the pressures of school and daily life.

I offer conversations for parent groups, school communities, and faculty teams focused on the real challenges girls are facing today—and what actually helps.

These are not theoretical presentations, but practical, experience-based discussions grounded in what we consistently see working for girls in environments designed for growth, connection, and confidence.

Topics can be tailored to your community and may include:

• Building real confidence beyond achievement
• Helping girls navigate friendship dynamics and social pressure
• Why independence matters more than ever—and how to foster it
• Connection vs. convenience: what healthy friendships really look like
• Preparing girls for life’s upcoming challenges

Available as a presenter or fascilitator for parent associations, school events, and small group discussions.

We’re here to help you find the right summer experience for your daughter. Whether you’re brand new to camp or researching and comparing options, we’re happy to answer anything on your mind.

My goal is to partner with parents now, during the research part, and have that partnership continue through many summers of Kamaji together!
